Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults come after evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
